Dear Diagon Alley artists,
Youre the best of the best, I have to say. Thanks to your help and cooperation, the archive has grown and flourished into something Im frankly quite proud of. Diagon Alley might be a modest little site, but its earned a reputation as a collection of quality work, and that wouldnt have been possible without you.
Im writing you today to let you know about another archive that could use a little content. Ive been asked to join the team of Artistic Alley, a new division of Fiction Alley. ( http://www.fictionalley.org ) Were almost done setting the place up; what we need now are artists with work to contribute.
This is a formal invitation to join the Artistic Alley community. When finished, it will be set up much like a regular message board - images will be sorted by character, with each image having its own thread. Artists are allowed to post as many threads as they like, in as many characters as they like. With every image, you would be able to include a link back to your personal site. Whenever someone clicks on your name, it takes them to your profile, which you can customize however you like. (See mine for an example - http://www.fictionalley.org/artisticalley/reviews/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=2374 ) It isnt as formal a gallery setup as many of you are used to, although it gives you opportunities to link back to your own gallery, or your pages here on Diagon Alley. It also encourages feedback and a sense of community, something Im sure youll all appreciate.
My friends over at Fiction Alley are thrilled to finally open a site that will hopefully become a comprehensive collection of Harry Potter fanart. They don't want to replace any of the galleries and sites that are already out there - for example, I'm not closing the Diagon Alley gallery - but ideally, Artistic Alley will work like a database for art, discussions about creating art, and for ordinary fans to see your art and even leave reviews.
Once the site launches, look through the faq and the Newbie's Guide to get comfortable with the setup, and if you feel up to it, start posting your pics!
Hope to see yall there!
Love,
Ali
